A nudge in the right direction with a welfare coach

Wellbeing on Prescription is designed for people with mild, single psychosocial complaints, such as fatigue, gloom, stress or anxiety. These complaints do not always have a medical cause. Often events or circumstances in life play a role, such as:

  • the loss of a partner
  • redundancy or financial concerns
  • feelings of loneliness
  • prolonged stress or worry

Instead of medical treatment, doing something that suits you help you feel better. Welfare on Recipe offers a practical and positive approach for this. For more information on Welzijn op Recept, watch the video.

Wellbeing prescription

For problems that do not require medical treatment or referral to a hospital specialist, your GP or the practice support worker (POH) can prescribe a well-being prescription for you. Your symptoms may disappear through activities or pursuits you enjoy doing. By being active, your attention is shifted from your complaint(s) or limitation(s) to enjoying yourself. This immediately affects your joy of life, self-image and well-being. So: instead of medication or a referral to a psychologist, you start doing something that suits you and contributes to your sense of well-being and happiness!

Welfare coach

A welfare coach will help you find activities. By talking to you, together you find out what suits you. What do you enjoy doing? Voluntary work? A creative activity? Like painting, for example? Taking a walk together? Something else? Your welfare coach arranges the contact and registration. If you like, your welfare coach can accompany you to your activity. A welfare coach works from your request for help and knows exactly which activities are available in the neighbourhoods and in your municipality.
